“How could your fabled Gong Fu Tea in which you Chinese claimed to make the best quality tea, the best tea art in the world be true when the Yixing teapots used for making Gong Fu Tea nowadays are fake and toxic?”, a Western bloke asked his Chinese chajin friend and adding, “ Is Gong Fu Tea a myth that the Chinese cooked up to fool the world and which never existed in history because a lot of my Western tea drinking friends can testify that they never tasted the best quality tea in Gong Fu Tea drinking and more important a reputable Professor named Dr. Jean DeBernardi of Alberta University who did research on Gong Fu Tea for and funded by the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation(Taipei,Taiwan) and Zhangzhou College of Science and Technology(Zhangzhou, Fujian) a few years ago found no proofs that Gong Fu Tea existed in Chinese tea history as claimed by the Chinese but instead concluded Gong Fu Tea was a recent Taiwanese inventions and copied from contacts with Japan?”
“ Well “, the Chinese chajin replied, “ it’s sad but I know someone with an impeccable pedigree of speaking the truth and equipped with the perfect answers to help you because he is sitting on the greatest hoard of archaeological trove of Gong Fu tea wares the world has ever seen and what’s more he has archaeological proofs not just that Gong Fu Tea existed in Early Qing but that Gong Fu Tea had spread to Europe resulting in an European version of the Gong Fu Tea which also started in Kangxi reign( maybe much later than the birth of Chinese Gong Fu Tea in Early Kangxi) and which peaked and coincided with the peak of Chinoiserie craze in Europe during Qian Long’s reign”.[Note that European ‘Gong Fu tea set’ consisted of 3 tea utensils: Yixing teapot, teacup( with handle) and saucer(dish) and Chinese Gong Fu tea set consisted of 5 tea utensils, namely, the Yixing teapot, teacup, dish, water boiler and burner.]
Hi, I am Tony Ren, the Malaysian-born manager of Ren Fu Collection from London, and today I shall tell you what is wrong with Old Zisha Hus and in turn, Gong Fu Tea, and more important how the two great problems can be solved.
Firstly, for Fake Zisha Pots, a quick rundown or retrospective of how Zisha Hu came to this deplorable state?
There were( and the 3rd wave is still ongoing) 3 waves of forgeries in the history of Fake Zisha Hus. Wave number one: during the Mingguo period a few Shanghainese Zisha Hus dealers got some contemporary Master Potters to copy Old Masters’ Pots in considerable numbers but to fraudulently sell the forgeries as genuine Old Masters. Wave number Two: In the 1980s, hordes of Taiwanese fraudsters descended on Yixing to make fake Zisha Hus intended mainly for gullible Taiwanese collectors. Wave number three: this wave of forgeries has segued into a tsunami today. How? Everyone is making forgeries, everywhere on-line are selling fake Pots, every auction in mainland China have Fake Zisha Pots, and the Taiwanese fraudsters are getting very aggressive especially by getting prolific Fujian potters in Fujian province to make lots of fake Zisha Pots for them( by forging unearthed Zisha Pots) and now everyone else is copying the Taiwanese fraudsters’ modus operandi to make forgeries out of unearthed Pots resulting in countless fake Pots, some experts claimed, 99% of the Zisha Pots in the market are fake Pots. And not just fake Zisha Pots but also fake, toxic Pots which look like Zisha Pots but are not Zisha Pots at all and which are very, very bad for making Gong Fu Tea.

Now we shall share some of our own experiences in Taiwan with you.
When I was transferred from Beijing, where I was the manager of Ren Fu Collection’s Xia/Shang/Zhou Bronzes, to Nanyang to manage Ren Fu Collection’s thousands of excavated teapots and tea wares, I naturally thought of the place with the most unearthed Zisha Pots and Gong Fu Tea masters.
Therefore in 2013, the year immediately after our first exhibition in Malaysia, we went to Taiwan to find salvation for our huge archaeological trove of Gong Fu tea wares, thinking Taiwan could help save our huge archaeological trove because it has the most unearthed Zisha pots and the most Gong Fu tea art practitioners but instead we discovered that the Taiwanese fraudsters are destroying Old Zisha Hus. We tried to get the most well-known Taiwanese scholar, who does research for the Palace Museum in Taipei, to write a book on our archaeological trove but found out that the scholar is an organized fraudster and when we found a Taiwanese scholar named Tsai Ker Sin, who claimed to be an ex-Taiwanese newspaper editor-in-chief and who had written a Zisha Hu preview for a Sotheby’s auction, he tried to swindle our collection. Everywhere in Taiwan and everyone in Taiwan we met who dealt in Zisha Hus, sells fake Pots. And what’s more all the Zisha Pots books in Taiwan have Fake Pots mixed with genuine Old Pots which we called “Conversion Books”. We hope against hope to find some Taiwanese who are honest and who deal only in genuine Old Zisha Hus but to no avail. We went away, shocked beyond belief how a community of people can be so frightfully despicable and repugnantly fraudulent. So Tony Ren, reported the Taiwan fact-finding trip to the boss of Ren Fu Collection in London. Yes, it is true what people warned us about, that is, Taiwan is a very dangerous place for buying or learning about Old Zisha Hus because it is very hard to find an honest Taiwanese who genuinely teach you about or sells you genuine Old Zisha Pots. In the words of some honest poetic Zisha Hu friends, they say that Taiwanese organized fraudsters are a monstrosity and Taiwanese Zisha Hu world is like a huge cesspit full of creepy morally-low creatures, a Hell full of darkness and the slightest Lights of Truth can burn and hurt them. And Ren Fu Collection is the Lights of Truth which hurts them, they said.
So when we started to speak out against Fake Zisha Pots, the Taiwanese organized fraudsters and their hordes of small time Taiwanese fraudsters and brothers-in-frauds in other countries, numbering thousands, attacked Ren Fu Collection. They attacked, ridiculed, laughed at, lied, abused, hacked and sabotaged our website, used fake online blogs like Tea Chat or Tea Forum, damaged our cars, burgled our gallery and even threatened to beat us up if we go to mainland China. But we have to persevere and endure all these bad things, knowing Old Zisha Hus and Old Gong Fu Tea need us to save them or else the greatest teapot and the greatest tea art and Cha Dao ever invented by Man, will be destroyed and the whole world will not believe but laugh at the Chinese claim that the Chinese invented the greatest teapot called Yixing teapot and the greatest tea art and Cha Dao called Gong Fu Tea.
Yes we have to bring back from the brink of destruction these two great Chinese inventions and yes we have to speak out because everyone who is honest and truthful fear the powerful, influential Taiwanese organized fraudsters and every honest, truthful people fear to speak out but whispered in silent despair, because they feared retribution or attacks from Taiwanese organized fraudsters and their thousands of small-time fraudsters found everywhere especially in mainland China.
Something got to be done about the increasing number of fake Zisha Pots and toxic fake Pots in the market or else a tipping point will come where almost all Zisha Pots are fake and not just fake Zisha Pots but toxic fake Pots which when used for making Gong Fu Tea will destroy the great name of Gong Fu Tea.

When Ren Fu Collection started narrating our stories based on our archaeological materials, we were attacked, humiliated, abused, laughed at and threatened with physical violence by organized fraudsters and small-time fraudsters selling fake Zisha Pots. They said this, they said that, they said anything except good things about us. And their common aim: to stop Ren Fu Collection from teaching and informing good, honest people thereby arming them with knowledge which will be detrimental to the business of selling fake Zisha Pots.
And today, after 10 years( the first 10 year anniversary) of fighting the powerful, influential Taiwanese organized fraudsters and their cohorts especially in mainland China, we will be sharing with you some of our new plans to save Old Zisha Hus and Gong Fu Tea.
Besides informing the powerful international newspapers like The New York Times and The Financial Times and other news channels about the plight of Old Yixing teapots and Gong Fu Tea, hopefully later in 2024 or 2025, we will also endeavor to bring our battle with Fake Zisha Pots and organized frauds in order to save Old Zisha Hus and Gong Fu Tea to anther level.
We are going online Live with Tony Ren as the presenter or narrator and you do not have to come to our exhibition to see our archaeological trove but instead we will bring our archaeological trove to your bedroom where you are resting, to your office where you are working, to the restaurant where you are eating or even to the toilet where you are answering the call of nature. What’s more, we will try, because it’s never been done before but only on the state level, to team up with the private sector or interested people to set up Learning, Study and Research centers in relevant countries using Ren Fu Collection’s huge archaeological trove of Gong Fu tea wares as materials. In other words, to expedite quick learning, study and research, we are creating a level playing field where not just PHD researchers or professors of universities or museums get access to Ren Fu Collection’s huge archaeological trove of Gong Fu tea wares but anybody who are capable and interested to learn about the greatest teapot ever made by Man and the greatest tea art and Cha Dao ever created by Man, we can jointly set up Learning, Study and Research centers in their country.
Stay tuned because in the next posting we will narrate and provide archaeological proofs that indicate Early Qing Gong Fu Tea had spread around the world especially to Europe in the late 17th and 18th century.
And we end this story by saluting and showing our utmost respect to Professor Chen of Xiamen University(now Professor of Santoh University) and Taiwanese good friends, without whose early warning to us about our first toxic book written by Taiwanese organized fraudsters Tsai Ker Sin, we would possibly be cheated and swindled by the above-mentioned Taiwanese organized fraudster by now. And we will always keep that infamous and toxic book to show the world the proofs of how bad Taiwanese organized fraudsters can be when they try to distort, deceive and destroy precious archaeological materials not to mention the said Taiwanese organized fraudster also made a lot of forgeries out of Ren Fu Collection’s Pots with the close-up pictures of which we trusted and gave to him: a very big lesson we learn never to trust a Taiwanese again.
