SHARED MISSION!: TO FIND THE POWERFUL, PROFOUND AND POIGNANT RENAISSANCE IN CHINESE TEA CULTURE THAT SHOOK THE WORLD IN EARLY QING DYNASTY BUT WAS LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN……………………………..
Tony Ren has sent the package comprising a book titled,” Saving Old Purple-Sand Clay Teapots”, a letter from the Malaysian Ambassador to the United States, 9 pages of condensed research findings and some pictures of Pre-Disturbance Phase teapots to various universities and museums around the world. However, Tony Ren has chosen only, as instructed by the boss of Ren Fu Collection, the famous Professor Yan Li-Ren(of the Gong Fu Tea project), Ip Wing-Chi( the world famous Gong Fu Tea master) and Lai Suk Yee( of the Yixing project), together called the tripartite group, to organize and articulate the ground-breaking narrative of the three great archaeological discoveries to the world. The world famous Dr.Rose Kerr of Cambridge University,United Kingdom; curator emeritus Teresa Tse Bartholomew of the Asian Museum of San Francisco; Dr. Eva Stroeber, of Princesshof Museum, the Netherlands; Professor Sharon Wong of the Hong Kong University and curator Anne Lam of Flagstaff House Museum of Tea wares, Hong Kong, and a few other Professors of universities and museums around the world must wait because Tony Ren does not have the time to deal with them yet, even though they have been informed of Ren Fu Collection’s 3 great archaeological discoveries.
On the 29th of December 2022, after the realization of the Ren Fu Collection’s three great archaeological discoveries, an email from the Hong Kong world famous Gong Fu Tea master Ip Wing-Chi (see email) arrived on Tony Ren’s email address and in the email the world famous Gong Fu Tea master coined the phrase “shared mission” to describe our tripartite liaison group’s momentous task as a ‘shared mission’ to find and save Gong Fu Tea with the sole aim of helping China to successfully put Gong Fu Tea in UNESCO List of Intangible World Cultural Heritage.(note that Professor Lai Suk Yee is the wife of Ip Wing-Chi and so is counted as one party of the tripartite group).
Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen of the world, the quest for the holy grail of Chinese tea culture or the great Chinese tea culture renaissance called Gong Fu Tea has officially begun and to articulate the three great archaeological discoveries are three great people with Tony Ren, namely, Professor Yan Li-Ren of Xiamen University, world famous Gong Fu Tea master Ip Wing-Chi and his wife Professor Lai Suk Yee of Hong Kong Chinese University.(sorry the rest of the professors and curators will play catch-up later because Tony Ren does not have time to deal with them individually yet).
Yes, we need these three great people to explain, among the countless many, many discoveries in Ren Fu Collection’s huge archaeological trove, why the most elusive Old Master Potter Hui Meng Chen could not be found when for 260 years historians tried to trace him, and why the legendary Small Meng Chen Zhuni Pot was so mysterious when half of all Pre-Daoguang Old Pots are Meng Chen Pots and finally why Gong Fu Tea, the most advance and greatest of Chinese tea culture which combined science, technology, art and philosophy(Cha Dao), and whose birth and meteoric rise saw China project its greatest global soft power to every corners of the world especially Europe, where the Royals, aristocrats and gentries embraced Gong Fu Tea as if it was a superior culture(as evident by Emperor Augustus the Strong’s Gong Fu tea wares collection and the images of Gong Fu tea wares as found in English gentrified or aristocratic paintings) not to mention Chinese tea, an important part of Gong Fu Tea at the height of its global influence caused two big wars(The American War of Independence and the Opium Wars) but why, why sadly now Gong Fu Tea is ridiculed as a cultural fiction by a Canadian Professor of Alberta University, namely, Professor Jean DeBernardi( and other Western arts historians) who lampooned Gong Fu Tea as recent invention that did not exist in the history of tea, even though Chinese tea connoisseurs and scholars could swear to its existence in history? Yes, so powerful was Gong Fu Tea that the world was swept off its feet and became addicted to Chinese tea which explained why tea is today the most drank beverage in the world, yes so profound was Gong Fu Tea that different cultures of the world successfully converged into one harmonious globalized culture called tea-drinking and finally yes so poignant was the Gong Fu Tea craze which resulted in two big wars. The tripartite’s follow-up research works and subsequent findings, on top of our own research works and findings, will start as soon as it’s three highly esteemed members have inspected and analyzed Ren Fu Collection’s archaeological trove of Gong Fu tea wares, whenever their visits to our exclusive exhibitions take place. We will keep you, the great world audience , informed of developments like we did as promised before and suffice it to say, until we achieved our goal we will not rest.
Also stay tuned and watch out for the next big picture story titled, “SHALL WE TELL THE PRESIDENT OF CHINA?”, who is an avid lover of Gong Fu Tea, a habit picked up when His Excellency was the Governor of Fujian for 17 and a half years, and including His Excellency’s very well-known wish and dream for Gong Fu Tea to be included in UNESCO’s List of Intangible World Cultural Heritage……and of course as we speak and as you lucky world audience learn first -hand from Ren Fu Collection, we know that His Excellency does not know yet that Ren Fu Collection has overwhelming archaeological proofs of the historical existence of Gong Fu Tea including who invented it, where and when it started, what were the five Gong Fu tea wares and how Gong Fu Tea was born. And to do that Ren Fu Collection and the professors and famous tea master have to jointly write a book titled,” The Archaeological Discoveries of Gong Fu Tea, the Small Meng Chen Zhuni Pot and Hui Meng Chen” and specially give the new book to the President of China.

P/S…..We are aware that there is a new breed of very smart and savvy collectors who only buy from Ren Fu Collection and nobody else and the surprising thing is most of them do not know much about Old Zisha Pots but only trust buying from Ren Fu Collection for their wise investments. Ren Fu Collection’s name is getting bigger everyday and this is one way of saving Old Zisha Pots because if people buy only genuine Old Pots, Fake Pots will be more difficult to sell and therefore become less instead of more in the market. Most important of all, to make it very, very difficult for Fake Zisha Pots to proliferate, we will put Fake Pots on Ren Fu Collection’s Black-List of Fake Zisha Pots in due time, so any Fake Pots even if bought innocently might put on the Black-List.
